Is it guaranteed to see whales on every tour?

We can never guarantee a sighting on a tour since we are sailing in wild nature. Whales are wild animals that roam freely from place to place covering vast distances in a short amount of time. The last few years we have had a 98% sighting rate on our tours. If you do not see any whales on your tour we offer you to join us on another tour, depending on availability, free of charge.

When is the best time to see whales?

April through October is the best season for seeing whales. Every day is different regarding species and the number of whales seen in Skjálfandi Bay.

There is no research that shows one time of the day is better for whale watching than another. Every tour is different and you never know what adventure awaits you.

What are the most common species seen on your tours?

Humpback whales, Minke whales, White-beaked dolphins and Harbour porpoises are the most common species seen in Skjálfandi Bay.
